May 9th: on the second Thursday of May 2024, creatives and food lovers alike came together at Moko Tottenham on a glorious spring evening to celebrate the third issue of chicken + bread.
The launch was our first in-person event and celebrated many creatives, poets, photographers and writers who contributed to issue 3, on the theme of Joy. For the first time, the magazine had a cover story, highlighting the practice of Safiya Robinson, resident chef at Moko, who also attended and catered the event.
Attendees were served canapés throughout the evening developed by Safiya including; plantain dumplings, rice and pea balls, grilled okra, mac and cheese and many more, which complimented the usual a la carte offering.
With this many creatives in attendance, the collaborative force in the room seemed limitless, we’re proud so many were able to find solace in our awe-inspiring community. It was a pleasure to receive so many well-wishes from attendees, many of whom have contributed to chicken + bread and were enthusiastic to see their work in print for the first time.
